Minecraft Music Timer Mod [1.6.2/1.6.1/1.5.2/1.5.1/1.4.7]

Music Timer Mod changes the delay between Minecraft’s music playing from 12,000 ticks (600 seconds; ten minutes) to 2,400 ticks (120 seconds; two minutes).
So your music will play five times as often! This only includes the natural background music Minecraft itself plays, and not ambience, Music Discs or the like.

How to install Music Timer Mod for Minecraft 1.6.2:

  • 1. Open the “.minecraft” folder. It is found in %APPDATA%/.minecraft – just open Run from the start menu and type that in. (If Minecraft is installed somewhere else for you, like C:/Minecraft; obviously go there – if you don’t know where it’s installed, the odds are that it’s in AppData.)
  • 2. In here, open the “versions” folder. Copy the “x.x.x” folder, then paste it again (creating a duplicate) – rename it to “MusicTimerMod”. (You can name it something else, but I’ll assume you named it that.)
  • 3. Open this new folder, and rename both files – to MusicTimerMod.jar, and MusicTimerMod.json (or whatever you named the folder – it is important that they are identical!)
  • 4. Open the .json file you just renamed (MusicTimerMod.json) using Notepad. It’ll look mostly like this:
  • {
      "id": "1.6.2",
      "time": "2013-07-02T18:27:58+01:00",
      "releaseTime": "2013-06-28T15:48:41+01:00",
      "type": "release",
      "minecraftArguments": "--username ${auth_player_name} --session ${auth_session} --version ${version_name} --gameDir ${game_directory} --assetsDir ${game_assets}",
      "libraries": [
  • And then some more stuff you needn’t worry about.
    Find the line, at start, that says “1.6.2″, and change it to say “MusicTimerMod”. Remember, if your folder, .jar file and .json file are not named MusicTimerMod, you instead have to put in whatever you renamed them to.
  • {
      "id": "Music Timer Mod",
      "time": "2013-07-02T18:27:58+01:00",
      "releaseTime": "2013-06-28T15:48:41+01:00",
      "type": "release",
      "minecraftArguments": "--username ${auth_player_name} --session ${auth_session} --version ${version_name} --gameDir ${game_directory} --assetsDir ${game_assets}",
      "libraries": [
  • 5. Open the .jar file you just renamed (MusicTimerMod.jar) – not using Java but using WinRar or 7-zip.
  • 6. Once it opens, delete META-INF (the folder) within. This is essential.
  • 7. Open the .zip file you downloaded (MusicTimerMod_xxx.zip). Find the .class file within, and drag it into the MusicTimerMod.jar folder.
  • 8. Close the folders, start up the Minecraft Launcher, and select the “New Profile” button (at the side, near the top.) Or, right-click when in the Profile Editor tab, and select “Add Profile”.
  • 9. A box will pop up; at the dropdown menu labelled “Use version:”, select the version called “release MusicTimerMod” (or “release YourNameHere”, etc.) Then rename the profile to anything you want (or don’t bother).
  • 10. Click the “Save Profile” button, then select you new profile from the drop-down menu at the side of the launcher, and finally, click Play!
