The AlcheMine Mod introduces a different approach to alchemy. Who says you need all those big fancy machines and special super rare items to accomplish big feats of magic? Not here! All you need is a crafting bench, the right items and a little speck of magic… specifically found right here!

To get started with alchemy, grab yourself an iron pick and go looking for some Hermetic Ore. Don’t worry, it’s not hard to find, and it will drop plenty of the Hermetic Ash that you need to perform alchemical wonders. This potent (and likely ancient) dust is a speck of magic materialized into physical form. It is your gateway to the schools of practice in alchemy.
Oh yes. There are multiple schools of alchemy, and each one has it’s own benefits…

Alchemy 101:

Hermetic Ash is potent, but in it’s freshly mined state, it’s raw magical energy lacks direction, and therefore, use to the average student of alchemy. As a novice alchemist, your first lesson is in how to shape the ash you find into basic runic symbols.

Rune: Had - The most basic rune at any alchemists disposal is the Had rune. Although the least powerful, it’s cost efficient, and with enough, is no less useful than it’s stronger brothers.

Rune: Hor - The Rune of Hor is stronger than your average rune in magical power, and is probably the most used rune in an alchemist’s arsenal. Transmutations with this rune are often more potent than those using the Rune of Had.

Rune: Suf – The most costly to create, the rune Suf is reserved for the most powerful of transmutations. Alchemists are advised to be sure they know what they’re doing before crafting large numbers of this rune.

The School of Material Studies

Alchemy used in Material Studies encompasses the wide variety of ways in which one can use magic to change the properties of a physical item. While it does require prior resources to transmute something, those transmutations typically cost less magical resources to perform. The offered item also reduces the need for large amounts of magical energy, allowing more complex transformations to be carried out. There are a number of benefits from learning Material Studies.Transmutation - the most common, yet possibly most useful form of alchemy is changing one object into another one with similar properties. Use an outline like the one below on various items, and see what comes of it.

Try it with: various foods, gems, ingots, feathers, leather, wool, mushrooms, redstone/glowstone dust, seeds, buckets of milk/lava/water, gunpowder

Duplication – this pattern of runes will double any item placed in the center of the crafting space. In some instances, it is cheaper to produce an item in this manner than simply crafting another one, even if resources are available.

Try it with: anything

Repair – placing an item with a durability bar in the center of this pattern will turn back time and restore the object to it’s former strength. The strength of the rune determines how much durability is restored.

Try it with: anything with a durability bar (tools, armor, weapons, etc.)

Enrichment – utilizing the magic of the runes in this pattern, an alchemist can bring lush growth and fertility to an item. It’s rumored that this pattern can also bring out more valuable ores within stone, depending on the stone offered…

Try it with: saplings, rotten flesh, bones, seeds, stone, various ores, netherrack

Compaction – the most resource costly of the Material Studies, compaction can be used to compress more common materials into new forms using immense magical energy.

Try it with: gravel, gunpowder, nether quartz, cobblestone, coal, stone, clay blocks

Enhancement – this pattern will make anything in the center brand new and more potent than the resources that went into it. Tools and armor will need to be at their peak durability before the spell with affect them (perhaps consider a Repair pattern first?)

Try it with: any tool, weapon or armor, sticks, chests, buckets of milk, diamonds, apples, melons, stone bricks, gold nuggets, nether quartz, sand, glowstone

The Sage’s Wisdom: Depending on the rarity of the outcome, a stronger rune may be required to make a transmutation work. Most base materials are in one of three levels of rarity, much like the runes used to reshape them. Determining which material is in what class of rarity will go a long way towards helping you choose the right strength of rune for the job.

The School of Magic Shaping

Unlike it’s more material cousin, delving into Magic Shaping requires absolutely no prior resources to get started. Using a collection of five (and only five!) of the same type of rune, an alchemist may give that which has no phsyical form a distinct shape and essentially create something out of nothing.

However, as with anything in alchemy, their is a cost to this benefit. Molding magic into a physical form can take considerable amounts of dust to accomplish, and in some cases, one should consider if the cost in runes is worth the result. Additionally, the need for so much concentrated magic means that only more basic materials can be made using this approach. Do not expect a fully crafted tool to pop out of one of these transmutations.
Finally, because of it’s rather unpredictable nature, no one is entirely sure which pattern of runes will yeild what item. Should you choose to pursue this school of alchemy, you will be well and truly alone in your studies.

The Sage’s Wisdom: Some patterns will allow one to craft different items depending on the strength of the rune used. If one pattern results in an item, try using the same set up, but with a stronger/weaker rune. And if a pattern doesn’t work for a stronger rune, try replacing it with a weaker rune.

How to install AlcheMine – Magic made Craftable Mod for Minecraft 1.5.1:

Install Mod for Windows

You need Minecraft Forge
Open your minecraft.jar file. This can be found here: C:\Users\(insert computer name here)\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\bin. It can also be found by searching for “%appdata%” in your start menu. Once you have searched for “%appdata%,” you have to follow the same path as stated above. Open your minecraft.jar with Winrar by simply dragging the .jar into Winrar.
Open the .zip/.rar/folder of your mod and drag and drop the contents into the minecraft.jar.
Delete the META-INF folder in the minecraft.jar. Close minecraft.jar.
Open Minecraft and play!
If your mod doesn’t work properly or you get a black screen at the Minecraft startup: You need Delete your minecraft.jar found here “C:\Users\(insert computer name here)\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\bin”. Then Open Minecraft, let it auto-update so your .jar can be restord. Attempt to re-install mod (If you want).

Install Mod for Mac

Open up your finder application. In the menu that appears full of files, locate the one named Library.
Locate the file named Application-Support. It is usually near the top of the contents inside of the folder labeled Library.
Locate the folder named minecraft. Once inside of the minecraft folder, open the folder labeled bin. This folder contains the minecraft.jar
Slowly double click the minecraft.jar so you are able to rename it. Rename the folder minecraft.jar.zip. It will ask you if you want to use .jar or .zip. Select .zip to save your changes to the folder’s name.
Open the now newly created folder named minecraft.jar.zip which will give you a new folder named minecraft.jar. This will now act as your minecraft.jar
You are now able to drag any .class files needed into the jar to play the mod you wish.
